Responsibilities

The mission of the Stoughton Equal Opportunity Committee (SEOC) is to promote the Town of Stoughton as a welcoming community. The SEOC upholds, reaffirms, and guides the Town’s commitment to equal employment opportunity; helps Town departments build and support a workforce that continually reflects the diversity of the people the Town serves; and conceptualizes and cultivates equity and inclusion as singular organizational priorities, placing these principles at the heart of what the Town’s workforce does. All of this, in turn, helps the Town of Stoughton to maintain a workplace culture where all employees can flourish and deliver high-quality, exceptional customer service to all. To that end, the SEOC will strive to support and steer toward a town that:

  • Values its diversity
  • Strives to create a community where everyone has an equal and valued vote and authentic and empowered participation in government
  • Is a community where all people can thrive where they live, work, and play
  • Through deliberate policy and practice, the Town of Stoughton will embrace the objectives below to perform at our best and effectively serve all in order to embrace the diversity of the Town’s population:
  • Implement equity and inclusion initiatives in support of the recruitment and retention of diverse candidates at all levels
  • Support the diversity of the Town’s population in its workforce, board, committee and commissions
  • Incorporate the Racial Equity Municipal Action Plan (REMAP) training principles and utilize the Racial Equity Tool (RET) to support the mission
