Town Meeting

Stoughton has a representative Town Meeting form of town government. Per the Town Charter, Stoughton has 168 Town Meeting Representatives. Twenty-one representatives are elected to three-year terms from each of the eight Stoughton voting precincts. Pursuant to the Town Charter, under Section C7-1, the Annual Town Meeting shall be held on the first Monday in May. The Select Board may call a Special Town Meeting at any time in accordance to the Town Charter. Town Meeting continues until business is completed or is otherwise scheduled. The Annual Town Meeting is scheduled to start on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 7:00pm. The Meeting will be held in person at the Stoughton High School Auditorium. Face masks are optional. The Town meeting is also scheduled to be shown on Stoughton Media Access Corporation (SMAC) television. Future dates for the Annual or Special Town Meetings will be posted as available.
