Residents of Stoughton,
As a member of your Select Board, it’s been a goal of mine to add Senior Housing to the town. As our population ages, this becomes more and more vital. I’m pleased to announce that I’ve partnered with our Development Services Staff along with a developer, Hebrew SeniorLife (HSL), to work towards providing an affordable senior living project. Hebrew SeniorLife is New England’s largest nonprofit provider of senior health care and living communities and is working to develop approximately 210 units of affordable, supportive senior housing on a 25-acre site on Canton Street. HSL intends on providing lease preference of up to 70% of units to local residents at initial occupancy and will work alongside the Housing Authority and Senior Center to achieve this. In turn, this development will add to our affordable housing stock, keeping us above the State’s 10% requirement. I kindly request that you, the residents of Stoughton, help me in supporting this project as it progresses through the approval process from the State, Select Board, Community Preservation Committee, Zoning Board of Appeals, Conservation Commission, and Development Services Department. Project updates will be available on the Town Website.
Steve Cavey,
Vice Chair, Stoughton Select Board
